Terms & cancellation policy

Short, honest, and what I'll actually enforce. Nothing here overrides local law. Last updated 2026-04-21.

1. Who we are

Ride With Jay LLC (“Jay,” “I,” “we,” “us”) is a New York-registered sole-member LLC that offers private snowboard instruction. I'm an independent contractor, not affiliated with Holiday Valley Resort, Peek'n Peak Resort, or any other resort operator.

2. Booking & payment

Submitting the booking form holds a slot. No charge is made at submission. After I confirm, I send a Stripe payment link for a 50% deposit; the remaining 50% is due the morning of the lesson. Canadian guests may pay in cash or Interac e-Transfer by arrangement. Prices are listed in US dollars.

3. Cancellation policy

More than 24 hours before the lesson: full refund, or free reschedule to any future date within 12 months.

Within 24 hours of the lesson: the deposit is non-refundable, except in cases of documented illness, injury, bereavement, or travel disruption. I'm reasonable — if life happens, tell me.

Weather: if Holiday Valley Resort is closed for the day, or I judge it unsafe to ride, the lesson is rescheduled free or refunded in full at your choice. Cold or snowy weather alone isn't a cancellation — that's snowboarding.

No-show: if you don't arrive at the meeting point within 30 minutes of the lesson start time and haven't contacted me, the deposit is forfeited. Call or text as soon as you know you'll be late — I'll wait.

4. Weather & resort closures

Holiday Valley makes resort-closure decisions; I follow their call. I may also cancel independently for safety reasons (high winds, lightning, rapid-onset fog). In either case you're rescheduled or refunded at your choice.

5. Minimum age & guardianship

Minimum age for lessons is 6. Riders under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. Riders under 16 are strongly recommended to have a parent or guardian present at pickup and drop-off.

6. Helmets & safety

Helmets are required for riders under 18 and strongly recommended for all riders. If you don't bring one, you can add the Helmet Rental add-on at booking. I carry a basic first-aid kit; for anything more than minor, I call Holiday Valley Ski Patrol, which is included in your lift-ticket purchase.

7. Media

When you add a Video Breakdown, Full Video Package, GoPro Loaner, or Action Photography add-on, I capture images or video of you during the lesson. These files are delivered to you privately. I may request your separate written permission to use selected clips or images in my marketing; you can always decline. Without that permission, media stays between us.

8. Liability

Snowboarding is an inherently risky activity. By booking, you accept that risk. You'll sign a separate participation waiver before the lesson (see sample waiver). Nothing in these terms limits rights you cannot waive under applicable New York law, including rights against gross negligence or willful misconduct.

9. Insurance

I carry commercial instructor liability insurance through the Professional Ski Instructors of America / American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI). Proof of coverage available on request.

10. Intellectual property

Content on this site — copy, photos, and design — is © Ride With Jay LLC. Don't republish without permission. Feel free to share individual pages by URL.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts sitting in Cattaraugus County, New York.

12. Changes

I may update these terms. Material changes will be announced at the top of this page and, if you have an active booking, by direct email.
